RAPID PARTICIPATORY DESIGN WORKSHOP
Climate change is a global phenomenon. Variability in the climate occurs naturally; however, detrimental anthropocentric factors are accelerating and increasing its effects.
With the rapidly rising global temperatures (from around 2°C to as much as 6°C) causing uncertain weather patterns and other various climate disasters, the need to do something towards climate adaptation and mitigation is of the utmost importance. This project aimed to apply design thinking methods to the climate change paradigm currently embedded within science and engineering. This project acted as a pilot study for future investigation. To complete this pilot study, a Rapid Participatory Design Workshop (RPDW) was facilitated, documented, and analysed to gain a basic understanding of public reception towards collaborative adaptation plan development.
USER EXPERIENCE
This project aimed to engage passer-bys on the beaches around Palm Beach, Gold Coast various mapping activites that focused on visualisations of the future of palm Beach.
This project was rooted in the participatory design practice. Given the location for this workshop, it also had to be rapid.
A project book was developed as part of the workshop outcome. This book served both as instuctions for researchers interested in following a simiar process and as a documentation of the workshop results.
